WIRE Latest Info

November 23, 1998

The WIRE launch window opens February 26, 1999. The spacecraft is ready to ship. Shipment to the launch site is scheduled for mid-January. We have been taking the extra time available to run operations simulations and finish the blankets.

This photo, taken just before SWAS shipped to the launch site, shows the SWAS spacecraft in the foreground with WIRE in the background. SWAS is working toward a December 2, 1998 launch, and it is the Pegasus launch immediately preceding WIRE. Many of the members of the WIRE team are supporting the SWAS launch.
