This week we performed some operations testing, completed the SCS, power, and transponder comprehensive tests, and built up the +x solar array module.
This sequence shows the buildup of the +x wing of the solar array.
In the first picture, the modules are prepared for bonding. The
second picture shows the back of the first module as it is bonded to
the solar array frame. In the fifth picture, John Lyons, our solar
array engineer, poses with the completed wing. The sixth picture is
the back of the wing. Note that the modules have not yet been
connected. The last picture shows the front of the solar array. The
one module which looks different is a multi-junction module technology
demonstration. We will monitor the power output of this module
throughout the life of the mission.
Next week we will run the spacecraft functional and three days of the end-to-end test.
